We can all agree that Sci Fi movies are the best movies. That being said there have been many terrible artificial intelligence themed movies (there should be a list of bad movies here, but I can't think of any). Ex Machina is written by Alex Garland who did 28 Days Later and Sunshine, so the expectations are set extremely high. Here Oscar Isaac is our engineer and Domhnall Gleeson is the dumb fuck who is going to fall in love with a robot which will be humanity's undoing. Alicia Vikander plays a shiny robot. Was it a strategic choice to make the robot a female? Are fem-bots better at lying then man-bots? Was the robot lying at all? These are questions that keep me up at night.
